What genre of writing fascinates you and why?

I enjoy writing fictional works in which I capture a moment in my life and twist it into a fictitious story. This includes changing the real characters into non-existent ones with new traits and capabilities and placing them in different settings. As part of an assignment, I wrote a short novel called “Shattering Mirrors” wherein I had to write about a certain moment in time, so I wrote about the time when I realized that I couldn’t see that well. This story is based on the time when I went to my mother’s room and bumped into a mirror, and shattered the world around me. I soon wrote this story through my sister’s eyes, a third party, as she is not affected by my hardships, making her a vital element of my inspiration. Another story is called “Discovery through Art”.

Who is your favorite writer and how are you inspired by them?

One of my favorite authors is Cassandra Clare who wrote “The Mortal Instruments” and many other fictional novels. I love her world of angels, demons and shadow hunters, where she magnificently creates this world of action, romance and fiction. She inspires me to do the same through her style of writing, encouraging me to find my own style. It was after reading her books that I started reading and writing fiction.

How is writing an essential part of your daily life?

Being obliged to write and modify a new work every week for

my fiction writing class, I am constantly immersed in different realities. I become a part of those worlds and strive to make the reader a part as well. This is what you want to do as a writer: allow words to just flow out of your mind and into the readers’ minds, forming a connection and sharing experiences.
