No Shave November

No-Shave November is done nowadays without even knowing the purpose of it. Whether you participate because you want to try a new look or out of pure laziness, you have to remind yourself of the movement’s true motives:

1. Fostering a greater appreciation for hair.

Cancer patients and some people with certain disorders are deprived of the blessing of hair. Meanwhile, we take it for granted and often view it as a burden; this month should help us appreciate our hair more and feel empathy towards those who cannot.

2. Raising awareness for cancer.

Whether it's through donating the money you save by not shaving, or through the conversations that will most likely be initiated because of the unshaven look, No-Shave November should not be a motion of idleness or ignorance.

Sadly, the month has become a cultural event rather than a significant charitable cause for prostate and testicular cancer. However, we should keep reminding ourselves constantly of the real reason behind it every now and then, so we do not become selfish and detached.
