What an amazing day
Saturday was, weather
wise and otherwise… The
6th Annual Pumpkinpalooza was certainly a smash,
especially if we’re talking
Pumpkin Chuckin’. I only
saw the last fling, but I’m
told that the lead was tied
right up until the last shot.
Murphy’s Law won last
year, but got beat out by
HFCS Siege Monkeys on
Saturday, who nailed their
target 6 out of 6 times.
Team Captains Darrell Holovach and Devin Weingold told me they are planning on ramping up their
catapult building skills
to compete at the World
Championship Pumpkin
Chuckin’ in Delaware
next November. I wonder
if there will be a spectator
bus for that?
There was no shortage
of activities to keep folks
of all ages engaged. The
morning started off with
the Girl Scout Breakfast
in the Immaculate Conception Hall from 8-11. At
9 am, the Rolf Sternberg
Race kicked off with about
60 runners/walkers participating. Winner for the
overall male category was
Tyler Rondeau with 19:30
and Jessica Chapman won
the female contest at 21:28.
The Gnome Hunt winner
was Alexis Carreau. Kids
paraded their costumed
pets down Main Street for
the Pet Parade. Winners
were: Cutest – Nimrod
the Pygmy Goat – Andrew
Cowder; Most original
were Bomey, Peace, Patric, Homey, four hermit
crabs owned by Karli Granget; and the Funniest
was Frank, a mini dachshund owned by Jacob Holbrook. Nathan Knapp from
Hoosick Hickory beat out
8 other contestants with his
hearty clam chowder.
