Indians Knocked Out of Playoffs;
Panthers Headed to the Dome
By Gail Smith
HOOSICK FALLS – Laura Peabody is still in shock
after losing everything she
and her 8 year old daughter, Ashlynn, owned in
a fire that leveled their
home on Saturday night.
According to Paul Davendonis, Fire Chief in
charge, the structure was
fully involved when firemen arrived on the scene
at almost 9 pm. Five fire
departments were called
in for mutual aid and it
took about 1½ hours to
knock it down. The scene
was cleared a little after 3
am. Today there is shambles.
Davendonis wants to
thank all who came to
help, “Everyone did their
best. It’s tough when it’s a
double-wide and it’s fully

involved. The owner got
out quickly and luckily
there were no injuries.”
Unfortunately, Laura
said, nothing was salvageable except for one photo
album. Two beloved pets,
a cat and a rabbit, also perished.
Laura, who is known
in the community especially for her involvement
with the Hoosick Soccer
Club, has already experienced a great outpouring
of support. After a post
on Facebook, friends have
been calling and offering
anything she might need.
“I want to thank everyone
for their generosity and
support. We have to start
from the ground up and
can use your continued
support and prayers.”
