HOOSICK FALLS – St. Mary’s Academy and Immaculate Conception Parish of Hoosick Falls participated
in a service project that helped homeless people living in an emergency shelter at Interfaith Partnership for
the Homeless in Albany. Immaculate Conception Parish provided ingredients for a meal and St. Mary’s
Academy students prepared, served and enjoyed the meal while spending time with the shelter guests.
Efforts to lift the spirits of those less fortunate, included designing and decorating a bulletin board which
left positive and supportive messages. St. Mary’s students also conducted a donation drive that provided
storage bins filled with items such as warm socks, slippers, and liquid laundry detergent. All items which
are currently topping the emergency shelter’s wish list.
Students took a tour, visited with shelter guests and listened to presentations that taught the students about
homelessness and how they can make a difference.
