Recently, students in Mrs. Aunchman’s and Mrs. Bourgeois’ classes held their annual Thanksgiving feast. In preparation for this event, students were given a Native American name such as Running Bear, Spraying Skunk and Running Maple Leaf and constructed a costume that reflected their studies. Some of the students also made pilgrim hats and bonnets. Placemats were woven in their classrooms as they were learning about Thanksgiving, hallways were decorated, and a menu for the feast was chosen. The day of the feast the students sat down together for a banquet of healthy snacks such as apples, celery, cucumbers, popcorn, grapes, raisins and carrots. Elementary Principal Mrs. Jane Lourie also joined their celebration. The Salem students all were very thankful to be together!
