My face was all dirty, my skin looked like it was
black rather than brown. My black eyebrows were not
black anymore, more grayish. I had a huge lump of dried
paint and dirt on the left side of my right cheek to dry.
After breakfast the commandant collected and queued
his soldiers up on a symmetrical looking line.
I’m reckoning that none of you brave hearted soldiers
know what really awaits nor what the purpose of the
attack is, neither do we.
All of the soldiers in the lineup were all dead quiet at this
point.
Don't worry I will explain in a way that even an idiot
could understand!
We have a huge battle lying ahead of us, in fact
the biggest battle in Japanese history, the commander
said.
In 3 hours from now we will fly over to Hawaii to
destroy them. You guys will be flying with the Spitfire
22’s, some of us will survive and some of us won't.
I could feel the shivers going down my spine, I was scared,
I was afraid to die. Everyone were cheering and screaming
of happiness, I wasn't. In fact I was the only one of the 32
men. I quickly ran forward to the commander to question
his newly made decision but got interrupted by my
Wingman Morris Pace.
