INTERVIEW
Hi! Namratha, could you tell us
something about your celluloid
journey in the industry?
I entered movies at the age of 8
when I was in 3rd standard and
have completed around 14 years in
the entertainment industry. I am a
trained
professional
classical
dancer and have been giving
performances since I was a child.
Acting is my passion. Though took
a break from acting when I was in
the tenth standard I went back to it
after completing second PUC.
While the early part of my acting
career was more like child’s play,
the second time around is more
professional.
Is there a difference between
facing the camera as a child and
an adult?
My first movie as a child actor was
a Kannada flick called Excuse Me
when I was barely 8 years old. Back
then I was pretty casual and used
to follow the director’s lead. Later
when I went back after completing
PUC to make a career out of acting,
THE DREAM BOX
I started taking serious interest in
essential aspects of this profession.
How has your acting journey been
after starting it again as an adult?
This time around the experience
was completely different as there is
plenty of competition from co-
actors and I have to be conscious
about every scene to showcase my
skills. For an actor, success is the
ultimate goal and all of us starve
and work hard for it. Even though
we face setbacks and maybe suffer
depression for some time, it makes
us stronger to fight back. On the
sets I am a different person
altogether as soon as the makeup
is on.
How did you select your first
comeback projects?
During the initial days there were
several challenges, but I managed
to surmount them all with the help
of parents and friends. With
experience I learnt about selecting
roles and projects with depth that
give me recognition.
