No, Medicaid will not“ take” your house. If a person receives Medicaid benefits to help pay for long-term care, the state of Florida will seek reimbursement from their estate upon death. However, homestead property is still protected against creditor claims by the Florida Constitution, and Medicaid cannot force the sale of the home to pay this debt during life, at death, or if the homestead property passes to“ heirs at law” of the decedent. news of note

Yes, the Home and Community Based Services program provides some assistance for individuals in assisted living facilities, including memory care facilities. This program has a waitlist, however, and the waitlist is not“ first come, first served,” but instead, it is based on priority.
