BRUNING

Continued from Page 15 seven ). They are fascinated by computers and sports .
When I raised the matter of technology robbing lawyers of their bread-and-butter practices , Kevin said , “ I ’ ve been hearing that for twenty years .” He expressed high regard for people who use companies like Legal Zoom to perform basic paperwork but doubted that large corporations with significant issues would submit those issues to computerized programs .
When asked to identify “ characters ” in the SCBA , Kevin was quick to identify his old law partner Morgan Bentley as “ having more personality than just about anyone .” And when asked to recount an interesting memory from past events , Kevin noted the trolley that was used to go bar hopping and to kickball games . He especially remembers the one in which Richard Lawrence , a former MLB pitcher turned lawyer , tore up his knee rounding second base .
Thank you Judge Bruning for your service to the SCBA and we are very proud to now have you as a member of our judiciary !

SUMMER

Continued from Page 15 witness businesses from across the country calling us to handle their legal needs . I also enjoyed trying out new restaurants downtown with my colleagues and attending the Young Lawyers ’ Division events .
However , the true highlight of my summer was the lasting personal connections I made with my peers and colleagues . A few , in particular , took me under their wing and guided me through not only the process of the summer but also in creating a successful career as a female litigator . I will cherish their advice , candor , and mentorship throughout my career .
After my summer at Shumaker was over , I had the opportunity to explore the Sarasota County Courthouse with one of my fellow Summer Associates . I appreciated Judge Padar taking the time to show us around and educate us on the judicial proceedings . I would also like to thank Judge Curley and Judge Krug for welcoming us into their courtrooms .
Thank you all for investing in me and believing in my abilities . Overall , it was a great summer , and I look forward to my future in the legal profession .
