A fine square , to be sure , but certainly not the world-famous Piazza San Marco . It is as if a famous Sarasotan left a large bequest to the city in exchange for a statue to be placed at the Ca ’ d ’ Zan and , upon said benefactor ’ s death , a statue was placed at some guy named John ’ s home near I-75 . John may have a nice home , but it is not the Ca ’ d ’ Zan .
Did Signor Colleoni have a lawyer ? It is unclear from the Wikipedia article on which your author relied . The author thinks not , however , because an attorney making this mistake would rightfully face disciplinary action . So then , what can you , Dear Reader , take from your author ’ s humble article ? A little entertainment , he hopes , and a reminder that legal disputes over the meaning of words have a long history and span continents . Also , if you represent a captain-general of the Venetian Republic make sure he allows you to review his contracts before he signs . �
