PUBLISHER’ S NOTE Greetings Friends,
Spring is finally here! I love this season. Although it is not kind to those of us with seasonal allergies, it is hard to deny its aesthetic brilliance. The majestic and glorious blooms, spring ready lawns, decorated front porches, and inviting back yards along with the anticipation of days ahead full of warm weather outdoor activities.
The month of May also ushers in with it a myriad of emotions as Mother’ s Day is upon us in just a few short weeks. This is also the season of proms, dances, and graduations. May is a sentimental time for many and it is a blessing when we are able to celebrate all of it with our Moms and Mom figures.
I am a bonified Momma’ s Girl. It is true that even at my tender age of 54, I still long to hear my Mom’ s voice daily and enjoy the gift of time we still get to share. Mother Monica Brooks is a treasure to all who meet her. My sisters and I are blessed to be her daughters and intentionally honor her daily.
However, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge my sisters and brothers whose Mothers may have already transitioned. We are sincerely praying for you here at The DIVA Zone and hope that the memories you were blessed to share bring you comfort and an overwhelming sense of joy and peace. There is NOTHING like the love of a Mother. I also understand that some do not share this sentiment as it relates to their relationship with their Moms. Again, you are in our prayers, Beloved.
With all of that stated, this May 2025 Issue of The DIVA Zone Magazine is dedicated to Motherhood. Specifically, the Honor and Acknowledgment of Black Mothers and the countless contributions to our lives and our communities.
The content of this issue is full of wisdom, Godly instruction, reflection, transparency, and overall goodness. Each writer poured their hearts and souls into this rich content. The amazing feature cover interview I was blessed to have with Dr. Evelyn Braxton will bless your souls. There is so much love, honor, and respect for the position of Mothers and Mother Figures. We made sure to include content for those who may not be Biological Mothers, but have found grace, joy, and contentment in God’ s provision of the experience in lieu of giving birth. The care for aging parents is also considered in this publication.
Enjoy this May 2025 issue, Sweet Sisters. Celebrate yourselves. Give yourselves grace. You’ re your Moms grace too. Praise God for the gift of another day met with brand new mercies that will continue to carry us all through.
