Spencer Beaudreault Founder, Suspence Fitness www.suspencefitness.com Born and raised in Willimantic, CT, Spencer Beaudreault picked up sports performance training at the age of 13. Excelling in football and track and field in high school, Beaudreault earned a Division 1 football scholarship to Sacred Heart University where he was able to play multiple positions (Quarterback, wide receiver, running back and return specialist). After college, Beaudreault earned a contract to play football for the FFFA in France. Suffering two ACL surgeries and a herniated disc, he then decided to direct his effort into personal and sports performance training. Spending years training with and under college athletes, professional athletes, college and professional coaches, he was able to gain all the necessary tools he needed to become a successful fitness coach. How long have you lived in Tampa? I moved to Tampa in January of 2012, so a little over 5 years. Are you single? Currently, yes. What's your greatest personal accomplishment? That would have to be receiving a Division 1 football scholarship. It's a goal I had set as a freshman in high school, and I worked as hard as I could to make it happen. How did you become a personal trainer and why? I've always loved training. Throughout the years I've trained with professional athletes/coaches, collegiate athletes/coaches and I enjoyed it so much it became a passion. I genuinely love coaching and helping people. Who is your ideal client? My ideal client is someone who realizes that it doesn't come easy, and that it takes hard work and consistency. Someone who isn't afraid to be challenged with me by their side every step of the way. Honestly, I train people at all levels of fitness from athletes to beginners; as long as they are ready to work. What kind of training programs do you offer? I offer personal training (1 on 1), small group training (2-5 people), and online training for those who can't see me in person. What is your own motivation/inspiration for fitness? My own motivation comes from adversity I had to 12 12 overcome throughout my life, just like we all have to in some way, shape or form. I've torn my ACL twice, to have a severe herniated disc and sciatic nerve irritation. That's something I have to fight through every day while achieving my goals fitness wise. I use that as fuel to better myself every day. What advice would you give someone struggling to reach their goals? Don't be afraid to ask for help! There are people out there just like I who can help get you to where you want to be, as long as you are actively trying to help yourself. Stay consistent and never give up. What is the best way to stay healthy and fit over the summer? Just stay active. It's a lifestyle, and you don't break that lifestyle, ever. Summer means more opportunities to do things outside with more people. Name one of your guilty pleasures? Reeses Peanut Butter Cups hands down. The big cups, cold, left in the fridge, not the freezer. Are you a beach or a pool person? I'm a beach person. I like the vibe much better. Plus there's more room to throw the football around Besides water… what is your favorite summer drink? I'll usually kick back with a Corona; if that's the type of drink you're talking about. What are your top three summer bucket list items? 1. Traveling 2. Growing my business 3. Helping my current and new clients reach their summer body goals
