The Discerner Claire Newman-Williams Claire Newman-Williams was born and raised in the UK and moved to America in 1988. She worked primarily as a portrait photographer with her work appearing in national and international publications. Returning to the UK in 2005, she began working with alternative processes and old cameras, blending photographs with old text to produce intensely personal multi-media pieces which address the recurrent themes of the smothering of identity and our fear of being seen - truly seen - by those around us. “Pheasant Girl” - £395 2 original images which are layered together with found text, printed on textured Japanese paper and mounted on old book covers - 42 x 33 x 3cm Available to view at the Discerner’s Residence in Mayfair E: [email protected] “Bunnykins” - £395 One original wet plate collodion photo, matched with a found botanical illustration.
