NQ Dry Tropics, as the Regional Program Manager, led the program’ s planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting efforts. NQ Dry Tropics also took on the following responsibilities:
• Conducted open and competitive processes to select program delivery partners to meet the service needs outlined in the program plan.
• Built on existing partnerships and fostered new strategic collaborations with landholders, delivery providers, Traditional Owners, and other key stakeholders to achieve long-term water quality improvements.
• Sought advisory support from the Landholder Driving Change Panel members to address barriers and achieve the program’ s objectives.
NQ Dry Tropics was contracted directly to the Great Barrier Reef Foundation( the Foundation) to achieve contracted sediment targets through on-ground actions with support from a Foundation Program Manager. Program oversight was provided by a Steering Committee chaired by the Foundation, which consisted of representatives from the State and Federal governments, industry, and NQ Dry Tropics.
The Foundation established a Technical Advisory Group( TAG) consisting of reputable scientists and practitioners who provided technical expertise, strategic advice, and support to water quality projects under the RTP. The Foundation provided guidelines and standards for RTP projects.
For projects involving major gully restoration, proponents were required to prepare technical design reports for each site using gully toolbox calculations as part of the design. The TAG reviewed the technical aspects of the projects before Foundation approval.
The Landholder Driving Change Panel members met several times a year to support the Program’ s efforts.
