A collapsed streambank at Three Mile Creek had formed a gully that was gradually encroaching on the homestead and infrastructure. The gully was reshaped and battered. The first three photos show the upper catchment before, during, and after works; the second set captures views looking down from the top of the catchment.
A 2.5ML dam was constructed to capture upslope water and to protect the reshaped and battered gully.
“ NQ Dry Tropics provided access to experts to help guide us on how to treat and prevent erosion. As a result we’ ve learnt a lot about remediating troublesome areas and landscape function.
A one--size-fits-all approach doesn’ t apply to fixing erosion problems. Each property has its own unique issues and therefore what works on one place isn’ t going to work on another.
