Pedagogy is the science and art of education, specifically instructional theory. Since the inception of formal education, pedagogies have been studied and practiced in order to better instruct students in hopes of making them life time learners. We now know that with all of the studied theories or learning, and the tons of statistical data to prove each one is successful, there is truly only one way to learn that is the most ideal. That one way I like to call "your way." However, because colleges and universities are still stuck in the industrial revolution, the last real successful breakthrough in mass learning, you will not likely see this type of pedagogy being used in your classroom. Recently, academia has opened its eyes to at least realize the way adults learn, is different from the way young people learn. A field known as Andragogy, the art and science to teaching adults to learn. There are many differences in the way adults learn as opposed to children. I believe that adults are capable of great leaps of knowledge if and only if, the classroom is set up in

a way to allow the adult learner to "learn." We often do not need to teach the adult learner as much as we would the younger learner. In this new digest, The Diogenes, (Di·og·e·nes (d-j-nz))through M.E.T.A., you will find knowledge, inspiration, motivation, that addresses the unconventional learner. You will be exposed to material that will leave you with questions, not necessarily answers. I hope that at the end of reading our first edition, you will leave with a desire to read and maybe even write a few articles for all of us to enjoy and maybe learn something along the way.
