Phantom Movements
The story you are about to read was inspired by true events. Only the names, places and organization have been changed to protect the innocent.
In my 20 years of health care experience, I thought I had seen it all. I as wrong! I started off my career as a Hospice aide. In my small town, if you wanted to learn a trade that would get you out of there, anything in medical was a sure way out. Hospice work isn’t easy. I found myself getting close to the patients and families. Sometimes they were people I grew up with. This had a bad way of affecting me each and every time.
I had wanted to do more for these people who were passing on, so I had saved enough money to enroll in an online nursing program. Working with nurses I was able to complete most of my clinical rotations in my town, but sometimes I had to head to the city to demonstrate a skills assessment. I knew I wanted to work in Hospice so I became a Hospice Nurse; not to be confused with a nurse who works in hospice. There is a big difference.
