INTRODUCTION:
In order to help meet the demands of The Joint Commission standards on infection control related to medical devices, we have created this training program to certify individual BMETs and
other Healthcare Technology Management Professionals as MADD-CERTIFIED Medical Device Wiper Level 1. The Joint commission standard IC 02.02.01 states “The hospital reduces the risk of infections associated with medical equipment, devices and supplies”. When cleaning medical devices, supplies, and equipment you should first determine if it is disposable or not. Cleaning a disposable device will simply waste your time, and also, it may not satisfy the reason you bought disposable supplies. There are three levels in the Medical Device Wiper program. The first is general cleaning, the second is disinfecting, and the third is sterilization. The following definitions are from the online Merriam-Webster dictionary
