The Digital Divide is the gap between individuals and communities that have access to, make use of or gain knowledge from (information and communication) technology and those that don’t. There are several different reasons why some people have more access than others. For instance men make more use of technology than women. This is because women don't have the oppertunity to participate in society as much as men. There is still a big difference but that gap is closing gradualy. Another factor is geography. Globally seen, the developed countries have much more access to ICT than the underdeveloped countries. Also, every country has a divide. People living in rural areas have less access than people living in the city. Take America for example. A majority of the people don't have access to (information) technology.
