Although the GOG concept was originally designed specifically to improve the lives of the less affluent, it immediately resonated right across the income spectrum, and Green Outdoor Gyms is now a preferred supplier to municipalities, schools, parks and other local and provincial government facilities. To date, GOG has installed more than 150 gyms in South Africa and many more in Ghana, Nigeria, Namibia, Mozambique, Botswana, Kenya and Zimbabwe. GOG is a 100 % black-owned company with BEE level 1 status.
GOG installs both large and small outdoor gym facilities, outdoor climbing walls, trampolines, spray parks and children’ s play areas which are more like super-colourful mini-gyms. GOG takes particular pride in its installation at Steyn City in Midrand, which is a nine-station outdoor gym over a 1.2 km trail. It has also created outdoor fitness systems at Simbithi Eco Estate in KwaZulu-Natal, Buh-Rein Estate in the Western Cape and various Summercon developments in Johannesburg.
It is dawning on municipalities and developers worldwide that outdoor gyms as a standard feature in public and open spaces contribute to the general well-being of citizens, which tends to reduce pressure on health care facilities, drive a sense of community and promote a happier environment.
