Evan Bracken
Artist-in-Residence
“Nowhere is Magical”
By: Caroline Kwas
For Evan Bracken (www.evanbracken.com), being
a Mojave National Preserve Artist-in-Residence is an
educational journey as well as a spiritual one. This
Baltimore native honed his craft in what he calls
“the second cloudiest city in America”, Rochester
NY. Trained in architectural and advertisement
photography, Bracken seeks out scenes that ignite his
artistic side. Whether a winter New England scene,
a lonely Icelandic shot or a stark landscape of Texas,
he seeks to capture the spirit of his chosen location.
His experience in California’s Mojave Desert opened
his eyes and soul to a new vista. As he has captured
Mojave’s beauty, so has Mojave National Preserve
captured him.
