September was a bit hectic for Julie and I. We spent three days in Cumbria - Julie was on a
photographic course (all continuing professional development, y’know) and I was sight
seeing.
Other than remarking on the beautiful scenery to be found in the Lake District, and
the amount of rain that can fall in one day, I can compliment them on their pubs and
restaurants. We can recommend the Red Well Country Inn (Kirkby Lonsdale Road,
Lancaster) - the menu was so good we had to eat there twice! We’ll be back up there again
in October.
Also well worth a visit is the Derwent Pencil Museum in Keswick - small but
beautifully presented - and the Lakeland Motor Museum, with its Bluebird display.
Anyway, we dashed back from Cumbria, with a quick stop-over at home for clean
clothes, and then down to Somerset to stay with committee member, Diane D, so that we
could help out with the BADFA stand at the ICHF Stitching, Sewing, and Hobby Crafts
Show at Westpoint, Exeter.
We had lots of enquiries at the stand, and all make-and-take sessions we full - even
the last one on Sunday when we were still painting while the organisers were calling ‘time’!
It was a busy, full-on week, but great fun, and good company.
If you would like to man the BADFA stand at a show, we’d love to hear from you. Free
parking and entrance to the show are your biggest reward. The warm glow of being part of
BADFA is the other part …
