Gill’s been on holiday … Gill Hobbs, of Acorn Folk Art in Bude, took a once-in-a-lifetime trip with her friend, Chrissie Wood. They went off to the Las Vegas Creative Painting Convention. Gill told us all about it on the Friday evening slot at the Crick convention and, for those who missed it, she has typed up her notes and included some great photos. Convention 2019 This was BADFA’s 25th Birthday Party, and as such it was decided that it should be an all British affair. According to comments made at the event and afterwards, it was one of the best conventions ever. The replies suggested the reasons were; a) the projects were all completed in the class - no UFOs to take home to remain forever UF b) classes were less pressured - people could keep pace and could enjoy the experience c) half-day classes gave the opportunity to experience more styles, and could have a half-day to relax and chill out for those who find full days are too long. On Friday evening Gill Hobbs told us about her trip to the Las Vegas Creative Painting Convention (link above if you’d like to read it), and on Saturday, after all the excitement of the AGM, Suz Humphrey introduced us to Gelli plate printing. The hotel’s new chef was keen to make sure everyone was well fed, even making some extra meals to cater for special requests. And management provided bottles of bubbly for us to celebrate our birthday - a good weekend all round.
