DecoArt News - Americana colours to be retired

We are writing today to inform you that a total of 19 Americana Acrylic paint colours will be retiring in
2018. They will be retired this year in order to better structure our overall colour palette for the
changing needs of the artist community and our general consumers. Below you will find a detailed list
of the colours being retired.

We are proud to say that it’s been three years since we last retired colours from the Americana line.
We firmly believe that streamlining the selection of active colours every year will enable us to
continue adding wonderful, new colour options that are trending in the industry.
This year, we added 15 lovely new colours to the Americana line – the most added in recent history.
DecoArt is not unique in having to make difficult business decisions such as these. All businesses in
our industry make similar decisions all the time. Production and storage costs prohibit us from
creating small batches of paint, and therefore, we must make the hard decision to retire products
that are no longer viable for us to manufacture. That being said, we only retire colours that are
historically the slowest moving on a worldwide basis.
DecoArt has been very conservative about retiring colours, in comparison to some of our
competitors. We would like to share the below information with you:
DecoArt’s Americana line still offers 231 beautiful acrylic colours, while FolkArt offers 220

and Delta offers 200.
All major craft chain stores stock Americana Acrylics and typically offer 90 to 120 Americana
•
colours to choose from. We invite you to look at the attached breakdown of which Americana
colors are carried in each major craft chain store.
There are many other options to find the Americana line of colours that are not stocked in the

chain stores. A full listing of DecoArt distributors can be found on our website (decoart.com/
purchase) including independent stores, mail order distributors, e-commerce distributors,
and full-line stocking distributors. All Americana colours are also available for purchase in the
DecoArt Online Store.
It would always be our recommendation that when you are designing new projects, you try

either to use the new trend colours we introduce each year or colours that our chain stores
carry, as these are the least likely colours to be discontinued in the next several years.
