I’ve been drawn (sic) to pen and ink work since a child, and earlier
this year I pulled my pens out of hibernation - together with a load
of nibs bequeathed by mother.
The quirky style started when I wanted to draw a picture of the
terrace with my house in it. I realised then, that modern
architecture is duller than watching cricket in the rain, (or even
without the rain) so I needed to give the houses a bit of character.
From then on it was all downhill. No building was safe. I targeted
our local harbour master’s office and posted it on line, and that
was the turning point.
The prototype
To cut a long story short, I contacted Chocolate Baroque, an
English stamp maker with a great reputation (they produce stamps
for Andy Skinner and France Papillon). After a period of discussion and
negotiation, we decided on a set of four houses for the initial release. They
were presented by Lesley (of Chocolate Baroque) in their own one hour slot
on the Hochanda TV craft channel, on 2 October.
The stamps are manufactured and marketed by Chocolate Baroque. They
are made with high quality polymer rubber (not cheap silicon), and, as with all
their products, have a lifetime guarantee.
My next themed set is due for release in January 2019, and in the mean time
I’ll take commissions for house caricatures.
Visit the Chocolate Baroque web site for details.
Anyway - here are the stamps, coloured either with pencil or watercolours by
my own fair hand.
