Kirsty- A year on …

Last year, through the generosity of BADFA members, and many others, Sharon was able to send her daughter to Mexico for Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation- HSCT- treatment for her MS- here is the latest report of Kirsty’ s progress.
Sharon says: Its practically a year since you all helped my daughter, Kirsty, have life changing HSCT for her MS. To say I am grateful to you all is an understatement, but maybe her blog update just before Easter Sunday will explain better why:
“ The disorientation caused by a lack of spatial awareness, resulting in falls or unfortunate breakages is difficult to explain to non- MS people. The visual disturbances do still occasionally rear their ugly head, today was not a good day. I am so much better than I was pre-HSCT. Yet I remain clumsy and still misjudge steps and distance when reaching. I seem to be very affected by old symptoms around the time before and during Menstruation or if I am upset or worried about something. Yet yesterday I completed a very difficult and steep hill walk in inclement weather. Had to stop a few times, but I did it. I was faster than one of my children too! Today I walked for a couple of hours on a wet and blustery beach with my dog and children, and I’ m still awake now. The biggest and most prized improvement is my lack of fatigue. Tomorrow, I’ m looking forward to cooking an Easter Sunday lunch for my family. I’ m a proper Mum again.”
Thanks everyone.
