Cristiano Ronaldo Extends Real Madrid Contract to 2021
Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to retire at Real Madrid after agreeing a bumper new five-year contract signed on November 7th that ties him to the Spanish giants until 2021.“ The official event for the renewal of Cristiano Ronaldo’ s contract will take place tomorrow, Monday 7 November at 1:30pm in the presidential box at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium,” Madrid said in a statement.
“ The Portuguese forward will extend his contract until 30 June 2021 at the event attended by club president Florentino Perez and the player himself.” Ronaldo, 31, follows in the footsteps of Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos as the latest Real star to agree a contract extension in recent weeks as the club prepares to serve a one-year transfer ban imposed by FIFA.
Encouraging Signs from Michael Schumacher: Ross Brawn
Michael Schumacher is making“ encouraging signs” in his recovery from a serious skiing accident, former Mercedes team Principal Ross Brawn said in a BBC interview on November 3rd. Seven-time world champion Schumacher sustained serious head injuries in the accident in 2013, which left him in a coma for six months. Brawn, who worked with Schumacher on all seven of his world titles, expressed hope the 47-year-old German will one day recover from his injuries.
“ The family has chosen to conduct Michael’ s convalescence in private and I must respect that,” he said adding,“ There are encouraging signs and we are all praying every day that we see more of them. So it is difficult for me to say very much and respect the family’ s privacy.”
Andy Murray Marks World No. 1 Spot With Paris Masters Win
Andy Murray celebrated his new world number one ranking with a first Paris Masters title after defeating American John Isner 6-3, 6-7( 4 / 7), 6-4 in the final. Murray, 29, replaces Novak Djokovic at the top of the rankings and claimed his eighth title of a remarkable season after extending his winning run to 19 matches.
“ This has been an incredible journey for me to get to the top of the rankings,” said Murray, who will move 405 points above long-time rival Djokovic. It is the Briton’ s fourth title in succession after wins in Beijing, Shanghai and Vienna and his 14th career Masters 1000 triumph.
