Ladies Autumn Lunch T here is nothing like attending a well-planned event and Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation knows just how to do it. Every year in the Spring and Autumn they have a Ladies Lunch in the Duchess Stand at Epsom Down Racecourse. The format remains the same – drinks reception with shopping, lunch with a guest speaker, and outstanding limited item raffle and more shopping. QEF has a tremendous following as each lunch is sold out. The guests at our table had all attended for Guest Speaker Dame Jenni Murray DBE. This lunch has a loyal following. The shopping is always exceptional. several years, some even coming for both the Spring and Autumn events. Sue Jacobs, Chairman of the Autumn Lunch, welcomed guests and introduced Claire Yeoman who gave an excellent account of her time as a client at QEF. She attributes her recovery to the facilities and the help of the outstanding staff. Dame Jenni Murray DBE was an excellent quest speaker answering a wide variety of questions at the end of her talk and staying on to sign her book. But what did my friend and I really enjoy .... the shopping of course! With over 50 stalls and a wide variety of merchandise from which to choose, it was a shopper’s paradise. Each year the Ladies Autumn Lunch raises funds for QEF’s Neuro Rehabilitation Service. QEF is building a new state-of- the-art bedroom specialist Care and Rehabilitation Centre (CRC). All funds raised from the Autumn Lunch will go to sponsor one fully-adapted ensuite bedroom in the new CRC. It was obvious to me that those who attend the lunch enthusiastically supported this project. It was a most enjoyable afternoon. Egg London was transformed from nightclub to catwalk, providing a unique backdrop for cutting edge looks from young fashion designers. femininity. Some outfits were more daring than others but all one-of-a-kind. It was great to see so many emerging London- based designers showcasing their collections. After some delicious canapes and a glass of bubbly, the evening kicked off with compere Sajeela Kershi, who warmed up the crowd with her sharp wit, details of the Young Tiffany Circle and why we were all there, before the main event. The catwalk hosted inspiring collections from the likes of Sadie Williams and Kelly Simpkin, using eye catching textiles and travel inspiration to create beautiful looks of Visit The London & UK DatebooK on www.thedatebook.co.uk There was a small shopping area at the back with fashion and jewellery stalls, a designer pop-up and eateries including Hummus Bros and the Rao Deli offering Vietnamese street food. The Young Tiffany circle is a powerful international network of women committed to helping the British Red Cross continue its vital work and they certainly put on an impressive event.
