WINTER • SPRING 2018
What’s New
Well several things as a matter of fact
section. Not only does it look good design-wise, it also shows
how many marathons are taking place this spring as well as
how many charities are participating. Very interesting!
First, I want to introduce you to our new Wine Writer. Richard
Household – page 17. Richard has used his first article for
The DatebooK to tell you about himself so rather than take
away from his column; I will just say that we think he will be
an excellent addition to our team. Richard has a very
interesting background in wine and he plans to share some of
his knowledge with our readers. In addition, I hope you will also read our article on Six
Historic Royal Palaces you Can Hire, pages 13-15. Each is a
very interesting description of the palace and what it has to
offer. I know, not really “new” – the royal palaces. However
this new write up is very well done.
Not quite so new, because we have talked about this before,
is the changing scene in special events. No longer do we see
as many gala evenings and lavish balls. Why? Because they
are just too expensive to put on. Yes there are still a few balls
happening and certainly some lovely, well attended dinners
but nowadays charities are turning to sports events for
fundraising … especially marathons. Finally, if you are a fan of films, be sure to check back on our
website in a couple of weeks. Richard Fitzwilliams, our
Artscene Writer, is going to be doing his review of the London
Film Critics’ Circle Awards as well
as the Oscars. No doubt he will
have some interesting insights
to offer.
With that in mind we have a new format for our Calendar of
Events, page 23. We have moved marathons into their own Enjoy.
