AUTUMN 2019 What to do about NO SHOWS That is a very good question and one that I have thought about quite often. I have also written about this subject in the past and after 25 years in special events, and quite a few years before that as an organizer, I have come to the conclusion that there is almost no answer. I f the event is relatively small - say 100 to 150 people - one can enlist the help of other staff members and call each person or couple. There is also the use of email if you happen to have an email address for the guests. A short note - We are looking forward to seeing you on Friday at our Anniversary Party/Ball - is very effective. But what if the event is for 300 to 500 people. What do you do then? That is just too many people to call even with the help of friends and staff members. Soooo, again I return to email. Many of the forms I receive ask for an email address. Why not request this information on an Invitation Response Form? Hmnmm. Perhaps this idea is worth some thought. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this issue of The DatebooK. We have a very interesting article on human trafficking as well as a piece on Paul Frederick’s amazing walk.
