Oasis Farm Waterloo. This
urban farm is right in the
heart of the capital, in
London Waterloo. What once
was a strip of wasteland has
been transformed into a
flourishing community
resource and a haven for
nature, as well as an event
space.

Jamie’s Farm, offering a
‘Farming, Family and Therapy’
programme that re-engages
disadvantaged people with
academic life so
that they will be able to go on
to fulfil their potential, both

Oasis Farm Waterloo, students
learn to grow produce for their

air cinema screenings,
corporate events, away days
and much more.
The farm itself was designed by
Feilden Fowles architects,
recently named Young Architect
of the Year 2016. Feilden
Fowles specialises in complex
projects and sensitive
locations, working with a range
of clients, organisations and
institutions. The design
comprises three polytunnels,
raised planter beds growing
everything from rocket leaves to
pea shoots, three animal
sheds, an aquaponics system
and a state of the art
composting toilet.
The farm is also home to a few
animals. The animals rotate
from Jamie’s Farm in Wiltshire
so that visitors will usually be
able to see one sow with a
litter of piglets and a ewe with
her lambs. In addition the farm
will soon be welcoming its first
calves. Oasis Farm’s chickens
are a mix of rescued battery
hens, hybrids, and purebreds.
It’s wonderful to see rescued
hens getting back on their feet
and starting to thrive again
once they settle into life at this
unique urban retreat.
Oasis Farm Waterloo isn’t just a
fantastic resource for the local
