The dank night felt cold , piercing . I walked through dense fog and breathed acid . I couldn ' t see in front of me as I ventured forth , but I had no choice . I had to go or else she would die . Emily – my thirteenyear-old baby sister whom I cherished with all my heart . She ' d been taken by fiends : fang-wielding monsters that took prey for their own enjoyment . I never believed in them . Never wanted to hunt them . But they took my Emily , and I refused to let them have their way .
I came through a set of trees to a dilapidated white mansion of old brick and marble . The night enveloped the abode as the moon shone brightly on the large , overhanging balcony on the east end of the second floor . Dagon , the fiend that stole many a young maiden , stood , staring up at the moon with chalice of red liquid in hand . His hand laid lightly on the railing in front of him . It was the only time he appeared to be peaceful , calm . Serenity did not match his beastly personality . I ducked back into the trees for fear he would see me , and then crept eastward to come closer to my prey . Yes , Dagon would be hunted this night , and I would have my fill on his blood for once .
I waited without stirring for what seemed an eternity , watching Dagon . He would not move , nor would I . We were perfectly matched
