Sarah hadn ’ t felt so giddy since she was a child . She really wanted to climb , her fingers touching the trunk of one of the trees .
It definitely felt cooler amid the trees out of the strange sunlight .
“ She used to always say how much she loved smelling my cologne ,” Marcus said handing a thin strip of cloth soaked in it to Ms . Grigsby .
“ Good , that ’ s good ,” Ms . Grigsby said , placing it next to Sarah ’ s head .
Marcus thought Sarah ’ s whole body seemed more relaxed . She wasn ’ t fighting it any longer , following the markers Ms . Grigsby was setting for her to find to make it out of the devil ’ s acre . It almost looked like she was smiling around the ventilator tube that was wedged between her lips .
Every one of her vitals continued to rise . He didn ’ t care what the doctors said , she was getting better . She would pull through .
“ She ’ s moving across the devil ’ s acre right now . That ’ s why she ’ s doing so well .”
Marcus nodded , wiping a hand down his face , his eyes dry and itchy from lack of sleep .
“ How do we know where she is ? You know , how much further she has to go ?
“ We won ’ t know , until she opens her eyes and wakes up . But , I ’ d say with the way she ’ s improving she ’ s
