I resolved to make an appointment with a psychiatrist . But everyday I pushed it off . Maybe the problem would just go away . Maybe this was just a discrete , never-to-be-repeated , little blip of lunacy . But the noise only got louder , the Voices coming into sharper focus .
I decided I needed to hear what they were saying . The shed was quiet , but there was still too much ambient noise . I drove far out past the city , deep into the desert . Out where sound was just as barren as the landscape . I turned the car off , walked outside a few paces , then plugged my ears .
I heard Them alright …
