I slammed him back into the wall, losing patience quickly.
“Tell me what I want to know, Alek. Now!”
“I told you. The Pendent hasn’t been seen for over fifty
years.” He was pale and losing blood due to the deep wound in his
arm. “The last time was right before Demitrius was killed.” He
whimpered, trying to squirm out of the grip I had on him, but he was
too weak a vampire to even come close to breaking my hold.
“That was in nineteen fifty-five! Are you saying it just fell
off the face of the planet?” I couldn’t believe the words this little worm
was telling me, but he wasn’t lying, I knew that much. Slowly I
released my grip on him. “If you run, I’ll kill you.”
He nodded and swallowed hard, leaning back against the
wall for support. “It was thought that the Obyri Pendent was buried
with Demitrius, but I heard that Hawthorne had broken open his
tomb searching for it. It wasn’t there. Beyond that, there is no
information about what happened to it.”
“So, Hawthorne is seeking the medallion too. Now that is
interesting news.” I looked up at the full moon, but it was barely past
midnight. I had plenty of time to get the answers I needed. “Why in
