Some time passed before the three of us carried Missie’s body out to the hole. It’s early evening. The sun’s just gone down. I sit beside Father’s grave, listening to the vague stirrings beneath the ground. Father is waking up. Soon he’ll start to shout and scream, to rant and rave, like he’s used to doing. But then he’ll realize what’s happened, and who is sharing that dark pit with him. No way out. Father and Missie together forever. And he’ll know that I put him there. Gina is a former registered nurse who recently launched her new career as a writer. To date she has had four short-stories accepted for publication in 2019-2020.
