THE DARK SIRE: ACCOLADES (Special Edition Issue, March 2021) | Page 127

TDS COVER ART
In the first year of TDS , there were four covers . Each cover was a beacon for the content within the issue . The cover art then represented all of TDS , from the brand to the subgenres to the authors , poets , and artists that shared their creative muses with the readers .
Though all of the covers were representative of their perspective issues , there is one issue that shines brighter than the others . One that not only uplifted its issue but also stood strong on its own merits . This cover art , a masterful creation of color and texture , left a clear impression on the viewer .
“ Welcome Back to the World ” by Dena Simard is the epitome of TDS cover art . It not only held the theme of “ Dark Summer ” for Issue 4 ( Summer 2020 ) beautifully , but it also shared a sense of adventure that reminded the viewer that all was not lost . In the time of COVID , the world needed this cover to shine hope into the bleak , dark reality that everyone lived in .
Abstract , in this case , reigns supreme – as does alcohol ink . This painting represents the best of the best in TDS cover art . Artists , look no further than Simard to understand what ’ s needed to be selected for the TDS cover .
TDS proudly presents the winner of Best TDS Cover Art , Ms . Dena Simard , one of the best artists in our modern history . Enjoy !
