Cleopatra is referred to as being a "barbarian" just as much as Elizabeth I was. However, she is far more in tune with her feminine side than Elizabeth and refuses to ever let it go. Don't be mistaken, she is most definitely in love with the power that she holds and will stop at nothing to keep it. The term "barbarian" in Cleopatra's case however, may result from other reasons. Nyquist discusses Cleopatra's race as being non-white. In history those who were not of fair skin were often reffered to as being barbaric in nature. Due to this, without any hesitation many reffered to Cleopatra as "barbaric" not only for how she governed, but also her skin complexion.

"Give me my robe. Put on my crown. I have immortal longings in me."
