If you are 70 1/2 or older, you can make a tax-free distribution from your IRA.

If you are 70½ or older, you can make a tax-free distribution from your traditional or Roth IRA to CalTrout. You can donate without incurring income tax on your withdrawal – it's an efficient way to support the causes that matter to you most.

Both are avid outdoors people, including downhill skiing, hiking, backpacking (just Bill – Terry prefers day hikes) and biking, including multiple bike adventures in Europe. Bill is an experienced fly fisherman, first starting in the sport when they bought their home in Tahoe City in 1980. He considers the Truckee River his “home waters” but frequently

fishes elsewhere in California and farther afield.

Through friends, he early on was introduced to the science-based programs of CalTrout and over the years has become a dedicated supporter, along with several other organizations focused on protecting and enhancing our environment.

Both Terry & Bill consider stewardship of the environment as a critical legacy role for responsible adults to model

for those that come later, not only to leave a healthy natural world for our children and grandchildren, but also teach them to carry the torch on to future generations. That legacy responsibility is best exercised by supporting important causes both annually and through legacy gifts

as part of estate planning.

Terry and Bill encourage CalTrout supporters to give thoughtful consideration to including a legacy gift, as they have done. Realize how much more each of us can impact the future by our commitments now.

The Richard May Legacy Circle

Whether it's because of our restoration work on Hat Creek or other rivers in California, basing our work on solid science, or being the voice for fish in Sacramento, some

of our supporters have included CalTrout in their wills.

Why? They appreciate our work ensuring wild fish will thrive in healthy waters now and in the future. Will you consider joining these supporters by making a legacy gift? All sizes are welcome. You'll ensure your legacy and the future of CalTrout!

We'll thank you by enrolling you
