The Current Buzz Vol 2 Issue 7
The BLUNT Truth
from the publisher
This month our focus is on concentrates.
We spent the afternoon with Lance and
Michael at Simple Cure extraction lab
learning about their methodology and the
products made from those processes. We
also got to spend the weekend with Frank
and Colby picking their brains. These
gentlemen made up the lab team employed
by Top Shelf Extracts, Inc when they were
awarded the Cannabis Cup by High Times
magazine for Medicinal Concentrate in
terpenes, and THC from biomass. Products
derived from both methods are called
extracts. All extracts are concentrates but
not all concentrates are extracts.
Even though all concentrates may seem
to be alike to some people -- each is quite
distinctive in taste, texture, and potency.
So what method of extraction makes the
best kief, hash, rosin, tinctures, oils, shatter,
pull and snap, wax, budder, crumble,
honeycomb, distillate and crystalline? A
big competition is brewing in Oklahoma
between the growers and between the
processors. I don’t know who will win the
Colby and Frank prefer butane extraction
competition in December, but I assert
over other methods of extraction, while
Lance and Michael from Simple Cure chose Oklahoma patients will be the real winners.
We will know where to find Oklahoma’s
CO2 for their business. Both methods
rely on solvents to extract cannabinoids,
