St Patrick’s Day celebrates the patron saint of Ireland, and while this real person’s life is shrouded in mystery and myth, the holiday has become an American tradition that celebrates Irish culture, music and dance with blow-out parties all over the country. March 17 falls on a Saturday this year, so it’s the perfect time to celebrate, no matter where you are from. Tulsa’s Blue Dome Entertainment District is going all-out for St. Patrick’s Day and is closing the streets to traffic so that revelers can pub crawl unimpeded. Arnie’s Bar in planning its 62 nd St. Patrick’s Day celebration with live Irish music starting at 10 a.m. and into the night. James E McNellie’s Public House and Woody’s Bar are also planning St. Patrick’s Day parties, including McNellie’s semi-truck featuring 30 beer taps. The St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl in Downtown Fort Smith makes its return starting at 6 p.m. on St. Pat’s Day with venues participating up and down Garrison Avenue. The rumor is there will be a parade in Fort Smith as well, but organizers are still working out the details. Don’t forget to check your local pubs and venues to find other events for this St. Patrick’s Day. Kilkenny’s Irish Pub on Cherry St. in Tulsa is also planning a St. Pat’s bash with live music, Irish food and liberal amounts of Guinness. RunnersWorld Tulsa is hosting the 36th Annual St. Patrick’s Run to benefit Special Olympics Oklahoma and Tulsa Running Club. The Tulsa Irish Festival is a chance to learn about Irish culture with food, traditional dancing and five full bands. There will be fun stuff for the kids, too, at Guthrie Green on Brady St. Claremore is hosting a St. Paddy’s Day party, staring March 16 with a parade downtown.
