ENTERTAINMENT BUZZ
Green Country thrives on luck of the Irish
By Honey D. Hallock
TULSA, Okla. -. St Patrick’s Day
celebrates the patron saint of
Ireland, and while this real person’s
life is shrouded in mystery and
myth, the holiday has become an
American tradition that celebrates
Irish culture, music and dance
with blow-out parties all over
the country. March 17 falls on
a Saturday this year, so it’s the
perfect time to celebrate, no matter
where you are from.
Tulsa’s Blue Dome Entertainment
District is going all-out for St.
Patrick’s Day and is closing the
streets to traffic so that revelers
can pub crawl unimpeded. Arnie’s
Bar in planning its 62 nd St. Patrick’s
Day celebration with live Irish music
starting at 10 a.m. and into the
night. James E McNellie’s Public
House and Woody’s Bar are also
planning St. Patrick’s Day parties,
including McNellie’s semi-truck
featuring 30 beer taps.
The St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl
in Downtown Fort Smith makes its
return starting at 6 p.m. on St. Pat’s
Day with venues participating up
and down Garrison Avenue. The
rumor is there will be a parade in
Fort Smith as well, but organizers
are still working out the details.
Don’t forget to check your local
pubs and venues to find other
events for this St. Patrick’s Day.
Kilkenny’s Irish Pub on Cherry St.
in Tulsa is also planning a St. Pat’s
bash with live music, Irish food and
liberal amounts of Guinness.
RunnersWorld Tulsa is hosting
the 36th Annual St. Patrick’s
Run to benefit Special Olympics
Oklahoma and Tulsa Running Club.
Contact [email protected] to sign up
for the 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run or the

The Tulsa Irish Festival is a chance
to learn about Irish culture with
food, traditional dancing and five
full bands. There will be fun stuff
for the kids, too, at Guthrie Green
on Brady St.
Claremore is hosting a St. Paddy’s
Day party, staring March 16 with a
parade downtown. The free party
will feature food, Celtic music and
events for the kids.
