EXTRA BUZZ
Green Country’s southeast
corner has plenty for all
By Joe Mack | Photo Courtesy Cherokee Heritage Center Facebook Page
STILWELL, Okla. - It’s spring
‘round here, so we are shaking
off the house dust and enjoying
educational opportunities go
up exponentially. Some are in
nature, some are indoors, but all
are sure to be fun.
We want to remind you about
the eagle and loon watches.
March is the last month for them,
so you’ll want to make time to
see the majesty of the birds that
make Oklahoma home. Call (918)
489-5641 for more on dates and
times.
Okay, do you think you saw
Bigfoot? Do you want to see
Bigfoot? Are you out of your
mind? Any way you want to go
with your answer, Stilwell has
the symposium for that. The
Oklahoma Bigfoot Symposium
is shaking the earth Mar. 10-11
where you can learn all you need
to know about tracking, finding,
photographing your own Bigfoot,
and they may even have a way
for you to trap one to bring
home. Your dog won’t be happy
but…Bigfoot!
Center just south of Tahlequah,
Mar. 28-29. Created for kids of
all ages, this living history demo
of late 1800s Okie life is a sure
crowd pleaser. They offer a peek
into an old-timey village where
kids can participate in pottery,
basket and finger weaving as
well as visit the Trail of Tears
exhibit. Small admission fee for
kids, but grown-ups ride for
free. Make your reservations
now to ensure your kids get in
on the fun (this is a big hint to
homeschoolers!).
Call the Center at (918) 456-
6007 or find out more at
cherokeeheritage.org. The Center
is located at 21192 S. Keeler
Drive in Tahlequah and is quite
beautiful.
It happens at the Stilwell
Community Building and the
Mid-America Bigfoot Research
Center is hosting this shindig.
They really know their Bigfoot
(despite never having caught
one). They know the sounds, the
sight and that nasty smell too.
Can’t beat that. Don’t tell your
spouse, just say you went out for
Slim Jims and got lost. More from
calling (918) 575-3139.
The Big Kahuna finishes the
month with plenty of kid-friendly
activities at Indian Territory
