Zealand, but able to also call
Croatia home, Lorde started her
career reaching out to all the
misunderstood suburban teens
out there, lost in a real-world
Hunger Game. She garnered
such popularity, she decided
she needed a break at age 18
and disappeared until 2017,
when she released Melodrama,
her second studio album,
that debuted at no. 1 in New
Zealand and Australia as well
as rising to the top of the U.S.
Billboard 200. Melodrama also
brought themes; loss, solitude
and heartbreak, but destroyed
the “South Park” notion that one
of the characters’ father was
Lorde in drag.
Ask Lorde’s fans to define her
genre and you’ll find that no
two answers are the same;
electronica, pop, and indie,
among others, Lorde’s sound is
like nothing out there, akin to the
likes of trailblazing women like
Bjork and Sky Ferreira. What
has always set Lorde apart from
other female artists has been
her ability to mix blues and alt-
rock while her lyrics come from
a depth of soul that people two
and three times her age have
yet to master. With her smoky,
melodic voice, inspired lyrics,
and heavy life topics, Lorde
tickets are in high demand after
her three-year hiatus.
With openers Run the Jewels
and Tove Stryke along for the
tour, tickets are quite reasonable
at $39- $100 each. Doors open
at 6 p.m.
