A while back I began writing a series on health . My goal was to start an exercise regime and to eat better while documenting the process in these writings . I did a great job for about three months ; I lost several pounds and gained strength and stamina . Then Thanksgiving rolled around with all of the wonderful high calorie foods my wife loves to prepare ... and I love to eat . And with the weather getting colder I had plenty of excuses for not going to exercise .

After Thanksgiving , I reasoned I have already blown my diet and exercise program , so I would start back right after Christmas . That failed to happen , so I told myself I would begin after New Year ’ s . Nada . Didn ’ t happen . It is January 17 as I write this story . In three days I will be 58 years old . I am promising myself I will get back exercising and eating better on my birthday . Or will I ?

maintaining a good healthy diet accompanied with a reasonable amount of exercise ? I don ’ t really know . I purchased a treadmill to walk on during those cold wintery mornings . All I do is hang clothes on it . So much for exercising indoors !
