Critter TULSA, Okla. - Throughout February there’s a variety of wonderful bluegrass based music in the Ozarks region that includes northeast Oklahoma and nearby adjoining areas of Arkansas. John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is in Fayetteville on Feb. 3 and Hot Springs on Feb. 4. McEuen is touring in a format which commemorates the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s Will the Circle Be Unbroken multi- platinum album from 1971. After presenting selections of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band historic music as the main event, McEuen will end these shows with cuts taken from his recent solo release the critically acclaimed Made in Brooklyn. The Saturday, Feb. 3 event is at the Starr Theater, part of the Walton Arts Center in the heart of Fayetteville. The Sunday, Feb. 4 show is at the Woodland Auditorium in Hot Springs Village. On Tuesday, Feb. 6, cutting edge bluegrass improvisation meets jam band exploration at the Yonder Mountain String Band performance at George’s Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville. YMSB is a long running and popular touring act. They’re now in their 20th year and still going strong. Up-and-comers the Southern Belles provide opening act support. Saturday, Feb. 10, the Grammy-nominated queen of bluegrass Rhonda Vincent brings her band The Rage to perform a benefit concert for the Girls Shelter of Fort Smith, Ark. Later in the month, in Oklahoma the State Fiddlers Winter Convention is taking place at the Sequoyah Lodge on Fort Gibson Lake near Wagoner, Okla., on Feb. 15-18.
