Sweepin ’ Swing coming to Tulsa By Ken Lane
TULSA , Okla . – There are few cultural expressions that provide such an intimate look of a society at a particular period of time than dance and swing dancing is by no means an exception . Literally sliding and jumping into the nostalgia surrounding American swing clubs of the 1920s , ‘ 30s , and ‘ 40s , swing dancing has never lost its appeal .
The Oklahoma Swing Syndicate ( TOSS ) seeks to reignite Tulsa dancefloors with Sweepin ’ Swing running February 23-25 .
More than a music of fun and vitality , swing music broke down socio-economic barriers during the years of its development in the 1920s through the 1940s . Just as the music brought people together , so too did

its corresponding dance style that filled music venues and ballrooms the world over .
Working to keep the sense of unity and fun of swing dancing alive , in addition to hosting regular swing dance lessons and dances , The Oklahoma Swing Syndicate ( TOSS ) hosts Sweepin ’ Swing every February to bring the swing community together . This year , Sweepin ’ Swing is thrilled to concentrate on dances such as the Lindy Hop , Charleston , East Coast Swing , Collegiate Shag , Balboa , and many others . An array of instructors will be present to assist and partner with swing dancers of all ages and skill levels .
