Jazz in June fills Norman with
syncopation and improvisation

NORMAN, Okla. – It takes
place every year. On the
final night of the annual
Jazz in June music festival,
harmonious and groovy
sounds can be heard
throughout the city.
With a giant stage set up
in some parking lot or park,
whoever is chosen as the
closing act has a duty to
bring the house down and
remind festival goers why
Jazz in June has become a
staple for in the summer for
music lovers.
For the 34 th straight year, the
annual Jazz in June is set
to be held this summer in
Norman. From June 15-17,
the Norman Arts Council will
play host to thousands of
music fans throughout the
city.
The festival is split up into
different venues around
Norman. They include
Brookhaven Village and
Andrews Park.
Jazz in in the Park will
conclude the festival June
17 at Andrews Park from 6:30
p.m. to 11 p.m. The lineup
includes Ardent Spirit, Victory
and Penny with the Loose
Change Orchestra and The
Harold Lopez-Nussa Trio.

“Jazz in June exists to
provide the hippest jazz
festival around as a gift to
our community,” according
to Jazz in June Officials. “The
festival remains free to the
public.”
Accompanying the festival
this year are jazz clinics
being put on by the Norman
West Public Library. Several
of the acts who will be
performing at Jazz in June
will be part of jazz clinics at
the library.
The clinics begin June 15 and
run through June 17.
