Relay for Life encourages you to ‘run for it’
By Honey D. Hallock
OKLAHOMA CITY – There
are more than 110
established Relay for
Life events in Oklahoma
and Arkansas scheduled
throughout the year. No
matter where you are,
you can find an event to
support, but with so many
happening this summer,
now may be a good time
to get involved.
This month, there are Relay
for Life events planned
for Oklahoma City, Sand
Springs, Cushing, Fort Smith
and Twin Lakes. Anyone
can get involved: You can
volunteer at an event, join
a team, start a new team
or even start a new event,
and join the 3.5 million
volunteers in 27 countries
who are already working
together to support a cure
for cancer.
Relay for Life is the
main fundraiser for the
American Cancer Society
and the largest cancer
support network in the
world. Last year, volunteers
raised more than $80
million to fight cancer
through patient programs
and life-saving research.
Relay for Life events are
designed to also educate
the public, the healthcare
community and the
government about cancer
and prevention.
