QUAPAW , Okla . – Male bonding is important , but I ’ ve always viewed it as a way to get together and share ideas , life hacks and gut-busting laughs .

Three dear friends took time away from their busy family lives and careers to spend 24 hours enjoying all that Downstream Casino & Resort had to offer ( or “ field work ” in my book ). The resort property itself is amazing , both in appearance and location ; tucked in the Tri- State Ozarks , the Quapaw Tribe ’ s main casino and hotel facilities are in Oklahoma , the parking lots span into Kansas , and the golf course rests entirely in Missouri .

Play all day Given our 1 p . m . tee time , 3 p . m . check in and 6 p . m . dinner plan , we decided it best to meet up at the Eagle Creek Golf Club – the 18-hole championship golf course tucked neatly into the rolling hills of the Ozark Mountains in Loma Linda , Mo . With my fab four warmed up on the putting green and driving range , we loaded up and headed for the first tee box . Eagle Creek offered stunning views of the Ozark terrain and got all of us jonesing for course-side real estate . Seldom are holes where the tee box and greens at the same elevation ; the shot of the day came on a par-3 where the green was only a deceptive 130 yards away , yet some 50 or more feet below the tee box , and behold , one lofty 9-iron shot into the green left the photographer ’ s ball some five feet from the cup … the kind of shot that makes us come back for more .
